You don't need the story to get your point across that you need a place to
stay. The background information would come when someone offers to help you
out and they want to know alittle more about what's going on. Spilling it
out to 'everyone' seems like you are just pushing some of your life's
private problems onto other people, expecting a better chance of finding
someplace to stay by telling us. It doesn't necessarily work that way.
It wasn't dramatic, it just sounded desperate. And while you may be
desperate, you still need to be gentle about how you express this to other
people and becareful not to spill your problems onto everyone. There is a
such thing as going overboard to the readers. But again, better left to a
private conversation for who you actually start talking to about living
quarters.'
