[Flafurs] Announcement: Le Cinema de Blaireau, summer and fall film series

Greetings, all.

I've been thinking about having periodic movie get-togethers in my
apartment. A few weeks ago, I was flashing back onto my youth, and I thought
about going out for old midnight movies, and I was thinking aloud about
having some small, informal gatherings in my home, .

So this is going to be an experiment to see if an idea like this may fly--a
biweekly film gathering at my place. I see some sort of theming to the film
of the night--midnight movies, camp classics, tributes to iconic
actors/directors, animation flashbacks, or specialty-themed nights for
holidays--with movies, videogames, art, and conversation happening before
and after the attraction. I do live in an apartment complex, and though my
living room has no adjoining neighbors (save for the people upstairs), I do
request that people conduct themselves accordingly both in the apartment and
on the property.

Films will run on a seasonal series, with a schedule announced in advance. I
suspect that I'll open my home earlier in the evening for guests and
conversation, but the scheduled film will begin at 9:00pm.

Food is welcome, but not necessarily provided. I may prepare small hors
d'oeuvres for early arrivals, and I may choose to mix drinks (or perhaps put
sodas out) on some nights, but the cinema events are best assumed as BYOB
and BYOF. However, there is a convenience store right across the street from
the apartment, for your various refreshment needs.  Alcohol is welcome,
provided the imbibers are of age.

All are welcome in my home. If you're carrying local/regional/global grudges
with you, leave your fandom political baggage at the door, please.

*Le Cinema de Blaireau Summer 2007 film series*

July 6, 2006: Animation flashback--*Transformers*: the animated series. I
have the Gen-1 DVD collection (all seasons, plus the uncut/restored movie),
and I suspect I'll just be playing episodes from various seasons all night.
(And no, I'm not that worried about people not showing, over a conflict with
the theatrical opening. Technically, the new movie opens July 4, and I
suspect that the diehards will see it then... And if people do see it,
they're free to drop by before or after.)

August 3, 2006: Camp classics--*Barbarella, Queen of the Galaxy*

August 17, 2006: Midnight movie tribute--*Heavy Metal*

August 31, 2006: Closed for Mephit Furmeet.
