It actually would come in handy even in that case. You can pick up a
good battery backup for around $100 and it should keep your computer
running for at least an hour if the power goes down. The only trick is
that you'll also need your modem and router to also be backed up; it
wouldn't do much good for your computer to stay powered on if you are
stuck offline.
